Why should I shop Michael Jay instead of other major online Retailers?
My goal is to bring you the best prices on diamonds and jewelry, while at the same time maintaining the intimacy of a personal jeweler. There are quite a few diamond sites out there that just grab inventories of stones, many of them outdated, and list them, thus giving an illusion of having huge amounts of stones. I try to focus more on a good variety of desirable, well priced stones that are on hand, that I can look at and give you an honest opinion or send you a photo. In other words I believe in selling you diamonds not codes and lot numbers. Im also commited to keeping the company small and personal so that everything goes through me personally. My location in the Heart of the Diamond District means that you get a No Limits experience. No matter what your request is, the chances are that the answer you'll receieve is "No problem".

What happens when I place an order online?
Your information reaches us securely via our state-of-the-art SSL Secure server. Your Credit Card is not charged automatically. We first verify all the information, make certain that the item is in stock and then we process the order. For Credit Card purchases we perform address verification. We charge your credit card only once the item has shipped.

When using a credit card for payment, can I have something shipped to an address that is different from my billing address? Yes, but you must register non-billing addresses with the bank that issued your card. We will call your bank to verify this.

Can I view your diamonds and jewelry in person?
Yes, but you must have an appointment. We encourage and invite you to visit our private showroom, located at 581 Fifth Avenue. (between 47th and 48th st) in the Diamond District. You will have the opportunity to view and compare diamonds comfortably away from the noisy and pressure filled atmosphere of the street. Call for exact directions.

How much is Shipping and Handling?
Shipping is Free in the Continental United States. Overnight is $25 and 2nd Day Air is $15. International orders are $60.

Are your Shipments Insured?
Yes. Until the package is signed for by you, it is fully insured by us.

Do I have to pay taxes?
As a New York Company we only collect taxes if the item is shipped within New York state.

How do you ship my order?
All jewelry items are shipped in a classy box with an optional appraisal (free) as well as some other free goodies.
For Certified Diamonds, set or loose, your package will also include the original certificate of the grading agency.

How do I know that the diamond that I ordered is the one that I receive?
Every diamond is inspected by myself before it is shipped. It is matched up to the certificate and verified. You have the option of buying a jewelers kit which I have put together. This will include a 10x loupe (magnification), tweezers and a millimeter gage for you to be able to get to know your diamond yourself.

What happens if the item is stolen or damage in transit?
Every package is insured by us until you receive it. I would advise you to open it in the presence of the courier and if it's damaged, give it right back to him before signing for it.

Do you sell "Conflict Diamonds?"
No. We have full control of our inventory and we do all that we possibly can to ensure that our stones are Conflict Free.

What happens if I do not like what I purchased?
You have 15 days from the date you receive your item to send it back and receive a full refund with no questions asked. This does not apply to custom-made jewelry. For credit card purchases, the card used for the purchase will be refunded. Check or wire transfer purchases will be refunded by check.

What happens if I show my Jewelry piece to an appraiser and they think the diamonds are not as advertised?
If it's within the 15 day return period, we will gladly either take it back or substitute diamonds on Custom Made pieces. After the Return Period, there is nothing we can do. Please use the 15 day alloted period to do all your checking.

Is there a restocking fee for a returned item?
Absolutely not.

Do you have other mountings that are not advertised on your site?
Yes. We have a full catalogue of over 1000 ring styles. Just call us and we will help you choose a mount that is perfect for you.

Do you create Custom Jewelry?
Yes. We employ one of the finest jewelers in all of New York. You can email or fax us a picture or drawing of a jewelry item you desire and we will work with you to duplicate it to your satisfaction. Click here for more information
